In March 1962, when the station started broadcasting, it operated to Casablanca and Rabat, which housed the former TELMA transmitters. Coverage was extended first to Oujda in January 1964, followed by Taza, to serve a blanket area between Oujda and Fez. The coverage in Casablanca was improved in October 1964, with the building of two 10-kilowatt relay stations near the city. Following the building of the relay station at Tangier in January 1965, the RTM network was connected to the Eurovision network, enabling Morocco to carry international events live. In the mid-1960s, RTM broadcast daily from 7:30pm to midnight, up to 9pm in French, from then to closedown in Arabic.

The region has a cool montane climate that varies considerably with location and elevation. Summers are moderately warm, with daytime highs in July and August of about 72 °F (22 °C) at the town of Banff and frequent afternoon thundershowers.

Banff National Park trends northwest to southeast along the line of the Canadian Rockies between Alberta and British Columbia. Its terrain is largely rugged and mountainous, a sizable portion of it consisting of high alpine peaks of the Main Ranges section of the Rockies, particularly in its western section along the Continental Divide. Most of the rest of the land is designated as subalpine or montane landscape and lies in the Front Ranges.

In 2022, the median family after-tax income of Canadians was $60,800, up by 2.5% from 2021, before adjusting for inflation. Adjusted for an annual rate of inflation of 6.8%, the 2022 median family after-tax income was 4.0% lower than in 2021.
