Statistics Canada is providing an advance estimate of sales in the manufacturing sector for February. Advance results indicate that total manufacturing sales declined 0.2% in February. The largest decreases were in the food and the petroleum and coal product subsectors.
This estimate was calculated based on a weighted response rate of 69.4%. The average final response rate for the survey over the previous 12 months has been 93.5%. As Statistics Canada continues to collect data for the February reference month, this early indicator is subject to a higher revision rate than our regular monthly release.
